The Golden Rule

Don't intrude on peoples' personal space.  Foster good relationships by being thoughtful and respectful of people and their need for alone time - alone time with one another, also.  Don't cause yourself and others to sin by using people, their possessions, their home, their time, and their lives to the point of obvious wrongdoing.

Remember the Hadith tells us to stay a few days - enjoy the time and the people...  then give others their space and lives back.  Don't carry a sin by practicing entitlement on others who have shown you hospitality and kindness.  Don't make your host carry a sin for becoming fed up with his/her guest.

Do what the Hadith says concerning being a guest in someone's home.

WIth all that said, personally, my home is meant to be a comfortable place - where others and I feel warm and welcome.

The key here is when all is said and done one must be CONTENTED in his OWN home.
