Unresponsive Pressure Free Existence

Dustie at two months old
When found in bed, unresponsive by my son, Joey, and taken to the hospital by ambulance, it was hours altogether before I regained consciousness.  Then I spent four days in intensive care for observation and recuperation.

This was about six months into my darkest depression, landing me in bed for a year. It was after having been kicked out of the family and cut off from ever seeing again my dying father.  The NM was the one responsible for the totally unwarranted kick out, knowing my father couldn't defend me.

A couple of months later,(and some months still before the pulmonary emboli set in) while hospitalized for two weeks for abdominal pain and raging influenza, I actually had what seemed a kind of near death experience.  This is what I want to talk about today.  I took away from the experience the awareness of the amount of pressure we are literally under just to keep our bodies from floating.

I was in such pain that even the morphine didn't take it away, and I told my husband who was beside me that I was going to try lying on my right side just like the Prophet Mohammed did - facing Mecca for more positive energy and healing. Then I felt myself slipping away.  There I was in total darkness - hanging in mid air - arms and legs stretched out and relaxed. I was aware of everything - my existence without pain, my body, the thick dreamy wonderful encompassing blackness, and peace.  Such peace that it was more like love and total acceptance.  I kept being thankful for the absence of the great pain I'd been suffering.

Somehow I knew I was in a different place than just before AND that once I was in pain, but presently not.  Time.  I had the sense that this experience was such a reprieve to the degree that it had to have been by then, at least a good ten hours.  The tension in my head, the pressure of my body fighting to get well, and pain in my abdomen were markedly gone.  I was just so fulfilled and peaceful.  If I were to stay there forever it would be enough, I just knew.

Actually, just then I was back in my bed with doctors and nurses all around me - machines on wheels, my husband, beeping, clicking, questions, and the bright lights of the hospital room.  The doctors said it was about a four minute episode since they had arrived to my bedside, asking me then, who the president was and what calendar year we were in.  I told them I was in a black wonderful place without any pain.  I wanted to go back.

The closest to a taste of the experience I can come to, now, is getting into a deep water, hot soaking bathtub, lie back and totally relax.. allowing the water to lift your limbs. Remain soaking for some time.  Then push the plug release with your toe and remain in the position.  As the water pulls away and drains, you feel the sense of a great pressure returning to your existence.  The kind of pressure that gravity is in order to keep us from floating is, as you will notice then, pretty great - and even heavily taxing from this perspective.

When you pull yourself out of a swimming pool, you feel the degree to which we are forced to the earth, then, also.  This pressure is something I find we learn to bear, but after being without it in that awesome state, I know the degree to which we are pressurized if you will.

I guess what I came away with is the healing that takes place just in a short time when pressure is released or non existent.  There is something about the removing of obstacles and pressures that creates an opening for great positive energy to heal the mind, body, and soul from the cells of our bodies to the neurons in our brains, and onto the richness of our bloodflow.

I can in that way take myself back as closely as possible to that NDE, enjoying healing anytime.  So this has become just another tool for my healing journey.  This tool I think you all can use as well.

This journey includes many different tools, including:  Meditation, prayer, whole food choices when possible, good fresh water, no contact with narcissistic people and family members if necessary, awareness of choice in thought, placing boundaries, epsom salt baths, manicures, essential oils for skin care and aromatherapy, eliminating anger and fear in thought and life, and forgiveness / non judgement.

Contact with regular folks - positive thinkers - movers and shakers - happy people : That's what my life consists of now.

There still are those toxic people out there who are just looking for the perfect target to use, but they don't find me anymore. I am no longer a target and certainly not a victim.  They have no choice but to move on.

The red flags of jealousy, arrogance, unhappiness, unkindness, and frankly selfish people pop up fairly quickly and regularly in going about living everyday life outside of the home. Only, now I have the tools to circumvent these people and experiences.  I don't attract these people in my life.  I don't do anything with them.  I frankly don't care about them one way or the other.  They need people who want to please.. they inevitably now move on when they come across me.  Mission accomplished.

I, in this way keep my inner peace and newfound pressure free life.

Become Anxiety-Free - Free Yourself from Narcissists

Dustie at two months old
First you will awaken.  Awareness is the essential first step in the process of ridding yourself of anxiety.  You need to be aware of what it is that causes you anxiety - and WHO it is that is difficult and abusive around you, or in your life.

You need to learn to listen to hear and hear to understand.  Seeing literally and figuratively is essential in becoming aware.  Look into the face and eyes of the person with whom you are speaking.  Relax.  Choose to stop your mind from jumping to conclusions - and or jumping ahead of the conversation.  Listen.

Secondly, it is important to love yourself enough to begin to place boundaries with everyone and with yourself as in how far you go or impose on others' space, time, and minds.  The boundaries you place for others to respect are most essential also.

Then you can begin the real work of enforcing and practicing the boundary setting.  Daily encounters even with strangers is good practice.  It will become easier and easier with every accomplishment when implementing this process.

Ditch the FEAR.  You are fearful because of the NM and her abusive behavior.  Deep inside you are positive that most people are to be feared and will somehow have the power the NM had all those years.  You fear this from the possibility of losing a job or position to losing a friend and or spouse.  This is all distorted thinking from distorted feelings - and it can all be straightened out.

You have to discover what it is about you that draws narcissists into your life, or that makes you want to please them at work, in the community, and maybe even at home.  Your kindness and people pleasing attitudes are what narcissists zero in on, and that is what makes you the perfect target.  But this can all be changed.  You just need to finetune these things.  keep the kindness, whilst placing the boundaries.

These boundaries must be firm.  Non-negotiable. Do not spill your guts to these folks anymore.  In fact, if you must work with them or be around them for any reason, keep your boundaries, distance, personal space, and speak only on the surface of things.  Do not give details of your life.  Do not allow them to trick you into going back to being too trusting and communicative.  Still trust most people, only keep your boundaries.  That's the trick.  No need to develop paranoia just because you've discovered this one or that one is a narcissist.  They are only 4-6 in one hundred.

If you do the above things you WILL stop walking on eggshells because in your boundaries you are telling everyone that you are NOT going to tiptoe around unreasonable behaviors.  You won't even do it for reasonable behaviors.  Walking on eggshells is fear.  Being afraid to relax and live and let live because if you do you know the narcissist will have a tantrum over the the slightest of things you do that he/she distorts as damaging, dangerous to them, costly, or insulting. This is not allowed anymore.

You will be yourself and relax and breathe in your own environment whether at home or at work without the fear of a narcissist blowing up or lying about you to 'get even' or get his or her way with you, or even another person.  You don't give these threats the power you used to - you dismiss them without anger.  You simply do not care.  If they react like a spoiled child because for once they are not getting their way, you simply walk away.

At work you keep a journal and log of exactly what the Narc is doing or has done to you (all the lies they perpetrated and the names of people they told the lies to (the accomplices)) and you share a copy with a credible and trustworthy witness.  This will come in handy when the gas-lighting, projection and smear campaign begins.  Narcs never miss doing a good smear campaign if you've been placing boundaries.  You will need this record for the Human Relations departments in order to secure your position, without the anxiety and fear you previously experienced.  If your narc is at home - make the same records and journal for yourself and for authorities should this one day become necessary.  It is very important for divorce and or domestic complaints.

Now, try to find another department without a narcissist - or another job.  Give yourself time to do so.  Do not be impulsive.  Think about things slowly and methodically.  Allow the information to settle in your mind until it reaches all the stages of thought before deciding what to do.

If your narc is a spouse, you need to go no contact and file for divorce.  If there are children involved, be careful of the smear campaign and parental alienation.  Know what he/she is capable of and take measures to protect yourself and your children.

Get out.  Find support and help in the community and even with online groups.  Don't hang on the message boards too much because you want to find a group that is interested in the healing aspect of this ... not so much the suffering and drama.  The drama will trip up a peptide addiction in your brain and tempt you to continue negative thinking.  He did this and he did that and he is this and he is that and he made me feel this way and that.  Know right now nobody has the power to make you feel anything.  You do have a choice.

Just know that at this point EVERYTHING your narc does and says is self serving and probably a manipulative lie or half truth.  Dismiss, don't care, do not invest, and move on.

If your narc is an NM or narcissistic 'mother' - you will have necessary casualties in siblings and other relatives who just refuse to stop the drama - and worse they do enjoy being the NM's accomplice.

We all do have choices how to feel, what to think, and best, how to react.  We need to evolve past our own childhood issues or whatever it is that kept us involved with a narcissist.  In accomplishing this all important step, our evolution is inevitable.

Our peace, inner peace, and healing takes hold and also evolves.  We are no longer prisoners of our own minds, homes, jobs, situations.  We are free.  We can take a deep breath and live and let live - do and say and be whatever we want.  Suddenly we realize that for the first time in years or maybe our whole lives that we are ANXIETY FREE!!  It is possible.

It happened to me.  I never would have imagined this even four years ago, but if you do this work it is easily possible.  If it happened for me after 50 years of abuse and anxiety issues, it can happen for you maybe even 30 years earlier!!  That would just be wonderful.  Even if you are my age - it's wonderful.

It's a new life even at 53.  I am really free.  No longer playing and replaying the negative tapes of the NM in my head - no longer entertaining those peptides.  Life is good this way.  Everything is better.  I don't need as much food to satisfy.  I want healthier foods, water, NO SODA, good sleep, and stimulating conversation.  Enjoying my adult children who are away, and my pets who are of course here with me as I share this post.

Life.  It's a good thing.

EditLIFE. It's a good thing when people know how to live:

  • My son who is in college for engineering, also working as a server at a restaurant in Maryland - called. I wanted to share his story because it's such an interesting view of human behavior. I thought maybe you guys would appreciate it also:

He forgot to ring into the computer this guy's cup of soup, and another employee saw the table's food coming up, so she being a "food runner" ran it out to the table. Joey asked how everything was and the guy told him he didn't get his soup. Joey was like: "Oh, I forgot to even ring it in ... I'm sorry. Well, let me get it anyway." The guy was really annoyed as I guess anyone might be saying, "Too late. My food is here now." Joey told him it was his fault for forgetting and he was sorry. Joey went to the manager and told her the story and could she pass by the table and see if there was anything else she could do for the customer. She said no problem and went to the table. The guy was really mean to her. He was so angry about a cup of soup and so nasty that the manager had to comp the entire meal!!

Later that evening, a customer called the restaurant to say that he was seated behind the table with the person complaining about a cup of soup and the server, Joey. He said it was weighing on his mind and he just had to call to say that he saw the whole thing. And that Joey was also the server of his table. That he was a very good, kind, and conscientious server. It would be a shame if the restaurant lost a good employee because of what this guy said.

I thought it was a real testament to how most of us are... this guy not being able to sleep that night knowing what transpired. Injustice is a disturbing thing.

The soupless man must go through life tortured that everything is all good or all bad. You have to feel
sorry for people "living" like so.

But, yeah. Life. It's a good thing for people who know how to Live...

I hope the soupless man finds his own healing path before this life is over. Otherwise he may only have memories of either being totally victorious or absolutely soupless.

Class Reunion - The Full-Circle Experience

Me on Left and Mary on Right at High School class Reunion
We had a great time at our 35th high school class reunion, October 5th, 2013.

All of us were about 53 years old.  Most had about three children, all about 21, 23, and 27 years old, also.  Many of us married young first, and found our soul mates with a second marriage. Some divorced with wonderful children from the marriage, and by now a really nice life. A few married in 81, finding their soul mates early on.

We all had not changed a bit from who we were in the fifth grade.  Nothing to prove, our hearts were kind of all on our sleeves.  Many of us really looked very much the same as we did way back then, if you can imagine!  I don't know if we were seeing our faces or our hearts, but we all had the same experience.  A combination of both, I'm sure.

There was the studious one who got the reunion together and kept those on the committee focused, and those social butterflies (on the committee) who made it all possible.  There were all of us from out of town who drove from Harrisburg, Philadelphia, Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania - and farther, to finally come together  like elephants walking slowly to the very first watering hole, once again.  As we stood on that mountain top at RoundTop in Athens, PA, it occurred to me that no matter how many miles and years away, we all found our way up this windy stoney mountain road.

The view was just beautiful and the colors amazing!! Our schools were below in perfect view.  There we were, even our old mascot, the big white and blue bulldog for Athen's Bulldogs, who sat proudly as a part of the group picture. But, it wasn't the food, drinks, decorations, or even the mountain top that brought me to this blogpost.  It was the experience of seeing myself in these others - for the first time.

We were so close from such a bond as growing up as children everyday for eighteen years that it was touching to see how similar we were, our lives, our values and our hearts.

Growing up with a Narcissistic mother and Borderline father gave me a negative worldview, but still, being with these 'kids' was often a refuge.  But always different.  Different than being 'home'.  There was school and there was home.  At home I knew I was stupid, ugly, and hated mostly, but at school there was a chance for kindness and positivity to break through.  And it did.

At school I was a "tough cookie" as one classmate remembers.  Always straightforward with my thoughts and opinions. Never learned much about boundaries or being tactful...(then)  sometimes misunderstood, but not afraid of anything.  The same guy who remembered the tough cookie described me as cute cute cute.  I never once thought of myself as cute.  But it was touching to hear this and to believe it  -  Actually being able to see it myself!  Another classmate said he sat behind me for years in homeroom and always admired my long black hair.  I never imagined any boy would be looking at me or my hair.  But, yeah. Why not? It was beautiful, I thought to myself.

I saw in each and every one of these people such beauty that day, and I realized that what I am now seeing in myself was reflecting off others with whom I interacted.  I knew about all this intellectually, but only hoped to experience it one day.

I found myself feeling anxious at only one point when one person triggered my triggers if you will.  Then, I felt myself reacting like old times, speaking while my eyes are wandering anywhere but to the eyes of the person grilling me. That's what it feels like when someone even briefly or slightly reminds me of the NM. Like being grilled.  Like all the truths I am speaking are going to be twisted.  Like I am going to be made out to be a liar.  It's an awful feeling.  Yeah, so my reaction doesn't help.  I look like a liar, not looking at the persons face with whom I am speaking.  Or answering questions...  ugh.  But, I told myself to relax.  Self talk, reminding myself to stay with the whole good feeling I was having.  I got up and got myself some water and began speaking to another person.  All the same talk, just minus the triggers.  One day even the slightest trigger won't be experienced ever again.

There was nothing wrong with the person who triggered me briefly.  I spoke to the person off and on the entire day just fine.  Very nice and I'm sure good person.  This is just all a part of the healing process.  I am actually doing it.  High five.  Feels really nice.

This is who we are in life.  The same.  The same as when we were children.  That precious inner child foundation will always be a part of us.  When we are born, go to school, marry and have children, experience these wonderful Golden years, and finally experience our death - we are jolted back to us - to who we really are.

The day after our reunion, we lost one of ours.  RIP precious classmate.  We will all be there before long and until then, we Live.  Missing  you and the twelve others.

Sittoo and Khaled in Egypt

Sittoo and Khaled in Egypt
Grandma says that after 13 children of her own, it's amazing how much greater still the love is for her grandchildren

Hop Skip Jump Forward....

Welcome!

Here you can follow a journey of personal growth and healing. It is only when we free ourselves from negativity, co-dependency, and even our own egos that the real journey begins.

It took me years and years to get this far... but it's all worth it now.. Having the feeling of a clear mind, no anxiety, and tons of energy, can't be topped.

After emptying my life and my mind of adverse forces and suggestions, I am finally free. Like the fledgling, life has nudged me out into the world.... And it's a beautiful place after all.
